Disintermediation

Disintermediation, or the process of eliminating intermediaries from a supply chain or a transaction, has been a significant outcome of the digital economy. It's supposed to create a better world by facilitating direct transactions between parties, leading to numerous benefits. We believe that the blockchain technology combined with our solutions is the key to actually achieving true Disintermediation.

Benefits

Cost Reduction

By cutting out the middlemen, disintermediation often leads to cost reduction. Intermediaries often mark up prices to cover their operating costs and gain a profit. Direct transactions between manufacturers and consumers, for instance, could lead to lower prices and increased economic efficiency.

Transparency

Transactions become more transparent when intermediaries are eliminated. Direct communication between producers and consumers allows for better information flow, leading to more informed decision making.

Greater Control

Without intermediaries, suppliers and consumers have more control over transactions. Suppliers can shape their business models according to the needs of the consumers, while consumers can directly voice their requirements.

Speed and Efficiency

By eliminating the need for go-betweens, disintermediation may speed up transactions. Direct communication can also reduce potential misunderstandings and misinterpretations that could lead to inefficiencies.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Disintermediation can foster innovation and entrepreneurship. New business models have emerged in sectors such as e-commerce, where platforms enable direct transactions between buyers and sellers allowing small businesses and individuals to participate.

Empowerment of Marginalized Groups

Disintermediation can empower marginalized groups by allowing them to bypass intermediaries who might be biased or discriminatory. A direct-to-consumer model can increase opportunities for these groups, stimulating social and economic equality.

Western union for example is a intermediary that traditionally has charge a lot to some of the poorest people on the planet.

Ludum Vitae

We have observed that society has been trading one intermediary for another less "evil" or expensive one. The lack the trust and verification still have many platforms behaving defensively.

Airbnb is a perfect example, just like the booking sites for hotels, they probably take a similar fee as some booking sites. Offering insurance and payment services.

Within the Ludum Vitae game we expect services to be built that would allow two Members to make trustless trades given their reputation would be so severely impacted and the Members that vouched for their trustworthiness. It is our goal to see transaction costs of less than 1%.
