Template Functionality in Ludum Vitae
Because Ludum Vitae supports Logging which offers a perfect record of all actions each cycle, combined with the ability to Draft all sphere components this allows for advanced game templates to be created.
The template feature within Ludum Vitae is one of many Marketplace opportunities. It also operates as a sphere and serves as a repository and facilitator for users to craft, replicate, and apply established frameworks of spheres, gems, and bonds. This function is pivotal for streamlining the creation process and leveraging successful configurations from previous experiences within the platform.
The template platform will also provide connections with consultants who could consult outside or join your sphere to help your vision.
The template feature is not a immediate priority of Ludum Vitae Core, it's another project that can be developed in parallel. We expect various customized solutions that even go as far as what a Game Designer uses to build maps and worlds.
Sphere Templates
Sphere templates act as comprehensive guides for creating entire environments within Ludum Vitae. Spheres can share and even sell what worked for their set of values.
Sphere templates can include everything - actions taken, Values, Gems, Bonds, these could be real world information or sanitized. They can be applied to a brand new sphere before it's first cycle or later matched up.
Proposed Features
- View alignment metrics against the template sphere
- Fork a sphere template, reward/tip initial creator.
- View all differences between any past Cycle on your sphere and the cycle number on the Template sphere.
- Cycle by Cycle Replay: Fast forward through cycles to understand how the Template will play.
- Template Editing & Saving: Successful sphere models are saved and categorized for future reference and use by others.
- Templates can support different Game Masters - Game modes that may have different rules.
If your sphere is following a template design, as a founder you will see suggested actions to take on the cycle with the templates of GEM's or Bonds. AI could further customize these. The sphere could create some Gems automatically, available for claiming by participants. Likewise a AI could be created to suggest more customized actions within the sphere, even using a template or set of them as training data.
We see sphere templates being used to create new spheres more than being used to change the direction of the current sphere.
Gem Templates
Gem templates provide outlines for specific initiatives or tasks without having to deal with the sphere's context it was initially created in.
This would be often be a series of GEM's and Bonds, and have similar features to Sphere Templates. But it's also possible to have very complex single Gem templates.
Bond Strategies
Templates for bonds and how gem groups facilitate the design of interconnected tasks. Sharing ideas about how to value various contributions will be helpful.
The template site may also serve to share and talk about successful Bonds that were crazy or unusual, rather than be used by anyone else.
Template Repository & Marketplace
The template repository within Ludum Vitae is a curated space where users can access and share templates. It will act as a sphere itself. It includes:
- Licensing options: Various options, open source preferred.
- Payment options: Including Rent to Own, Skin-in-the-game, etc
- Community Feedback: Users can provide and read feedback on the templates’ effectiveness.
- Ratings: Templates are rated by users based on their success and utility.
- Search Functionality: Users can search for templates by various criteria, including sphere type or problem addressed.
- Customization: Templates can be adapted to fit the unique needs of different spheres or projects.
- Support Resources: Users have access to documentation and community-driven support for implementing templates.
- All other emergent Ludum Vitae Features
Purpose
The template functionality in Ludum Vitae is designed to harness the collective knowledge and experience of the community, allowing for the replication of successful models and strategies. People make the same mistakes because failures are not shared, and successes are often hidden. It not only aids in the efficient launch of new initiatives but also fosters a collaborative environment where users can share best practices and learn from each other’s successes.
It's another emergent property. Given the inherit creativity combined with complete platform freedom we expect some very creative solutions. It's not entirely impossible for spheres to spy on other public spheres for real-time ideas.
