Roles

Spheres, Gems and Bonds all have Roles

Some roles in LV are Emergent while others are assigned. The sphere assigns emergent roles based on participation in any gem or bond. Gems and Bonds assign emergent roles based on your activity within them.

Emergent roles

These roles change freely every cycle. If you only were a participant in only one gem, and Gem is finished, you lose that role on the next cycle.

Creator

Sphere Creators can only be assigned up to the moment that the sphere cycles are begun. This cannot be changed once the sphere cycles are begun. This does not mean that a creator cannot be kick/banned! It simply means that creators of a sphere will forever be noted to be creators of the sphere for the lifecycle of that sphere. Sphere, Gem, and Bond Creators do not have any special rights outside of that designation within the context (sphere, gem, bond).

There is only one creator for Gems, and Bonds. This creator is

The creator of Bonds & Gems automatically gets roles like Owner and Validator.

Founder - Sphere

There can be many founders in a sphere, this is a sphere specific role.

Owner

Owners participate in the rewards of their associated object.

There is only one Owner (Gem) in the context of the Gems, and Bonds.

Validator

A validator for a sphere is a emergent role given to any Member that has the Validator role in at least one Gem.

It is important to understand validators are different between spheres and GEM's. They are a single Member in a GEM and a array of Members in the Sphere

Gem/Bond Validator

Gems and Bonds can only have one validator assigned.

Steward

Stewards are given almost full control of the Sphere, Gem or Bond. They can not assign another steward, or owner.

Contributor

This label can be changed upon sphere creation, this is unilaterally applied to both the Sphere and all Gems. Suggested names:

  • Worker
  • Contributor
  • Tech
  • Field Op
  • Executor
  • Employee

Contributors are providing significant support to a GEM. They essentially are an upgraded participant.

A Member receives a emergent role for participating or working with Gems.

Staker

This label can be changed upon sphere creation, this is unilaterally applied to both the Sphere and all Gems. Suggested names:

  • Staker
  • Backer
  • Investor
  • Supporter

Is a member that is providing token backing (could also use Backer) to the Sphere or Gems. This is an emergent sphere role.

Participant

Participant is a emergent role actively being rewarded for participating in the sphere. Participants may be non-member/non-member users with specific and limited access in/to gem/sphere activity and information.

Observer

Observer is the only role that is not rewarded. The barrier to participating is very low in some cases, so observers are providing little to no value. Observers by default have access to all public information, and may invoke request actions for more information from other members and gems. Observers may purchase tokens from the sphere to add tributes to requests and offers, however, upon acceptance of any request or offer - they are no longer observers. Depending on the action, they will be participants, stakers, contributors, owners, etc.

Detractor

Detractors provide check and balance, they offer differing opinions and can bet against the success of the Gem. Detractors are rewarded when the Gem is not meeting its success criteria or goals outlined.

This is done via the GEM/ bonds are only accessible through Gems

Troll

Trolls are Members with Participant or Detractor roles who have been labeled as such through voting and assignment mechanisms available to members in good standing. Trolls are not shown this status. Owners of gems and spheres will be presented with troll indicators when reviewing members with this designation.

You must become a sphere troll to be eligible to be banned by community vote, once eligible any sphere member can propose a GEM to ban. Sphere founders are able to speed up the process, see Peer Review
