It is the lifeblood that powers the virtual ecosystem, driving growth and ensuring the vitality of Gems and Members alike. Here’s how Attention is harnessed and utilized in LV:

Metrics of Attention

Attention is quantified using sophisticated algorithms that track and measure engagement levels across the system. The metrics consider various forms of interaction, such as the time spent on a Gem, the tokens contributed, and the number of roles assigned, including views.

Activity-Based Attention

The Game Master monitors the overall activity of each Gem. This includes user interactions, updates made to the Gem, and discussions surrounding it. Active Gems will naturally attract more Attention, signaling their importance and relevance within the sphere.

Voting with Attention Members have the power to direct their Attention towards Gems that resonate with their values and interests. By voting with their engagement, Members help to elevate the status of Gems that align with the community’s values, thus shaping the landscape of the sphere.

Rewarding Gems

Gems that successfully capture the Attention of Members are rewarded. This is because high levels of Attention translate to an increase in value, both in terms of the Gem’s importance within the sphere and its potential for growth. The LV system recognizes and amplifies this value increment, thereby incentivizing Members to create and manage Gems that will attract sustained Attention.

Member Incentives

Members benefit directly from the Attention that their Gems receive as long as the Success Criteria is being met and their Values are matching the community. As the value of a Gem rises with increased Attention, so does the Member’s merit within the LV community. This creates a positive feedback loop, where Members are motivated to contribute constructively to the sphere and maintain the health and growth of their Gems.

Attention Redistribution

In LV, any Gem that fails to maintain Attention over time will diminish in value, with its tokens being redirected to more active and engaging areas of the sphere. This ensures that resources are allocated efficiently, fostering a dynamic and responsive system that evolves with the collective focus of its participants.

Bonds

Bonds serve as crucial connectors within the sphere, linking Gems to one another and thereby influencing the distribution of Tokens each receives. When two Gems are bonded, they create a symbiotic relationship: the flow of Attention to one can benefit the other, and vice versa. This system ensures that Attention is not calculated in isolation but rather in a networked context. The value of a Gem, and consequently the Attention it garners, isn’t solely dependent on its direct interactions but also on its connections within the network. As Attention flows through the sphere, it is algorithmically tracked and distributed, with bonded Gems receiving a share proportional to their interconnectedness and the strength of their bonds. This method allows for a more nuanced and dynamic calculation of Attention, rewarding Gems that are not only active and engaging on their own but also integral to the structure of the sphere through their bonds with other Gems.

Negative Attention

Ludum Vitae fundamentally rejects the old paradigm where social platforms exploit negativity, hype, and drama to capture user attention for the sake of ad revenue. This antiquated model thrives on sensationalism and conflict, often at the cost of well-being and positive community engagement. In stark contrast, Ludum Vitae fosters a nurturing environment that values constructive interaction, collaboration, and meaningful content. By design, it incentivizes positive behaviors and contributions that benefit the collective, rather than individual sensationalism. The LV system is built on the premise that attention should be earned through value creation and positive impact, not through the exploitation of emotional triggers or divisive tactics. It is possible a sphere may create drama if that is what users want but as a opt-in system, Members can find another sphere. To create drama in a drama-free sphere is likely to cost you tokens.

Velocity

Attention helps insure that we are creating more velocity and not less. Within any economic system it is important that value does not become stagnant.
