Time & Cycles
The foundational unit of time management in Ludum Vitae is the Cycle Time which represents a predefined time interval selected at Sphere creation. The Cycle Time determines the pacing of task completion and maintenance, acting as a structured framework for Members to organize their actives.
Regulated Progress
The Cycle Time sets a rhythm for the game, allowing for the measured progress of in-game events. It dictates when resources are gathered, when actions are refreshed, and when certain events can occur, providing a sense of continuity and structure.
Game Master
The game master processes all data within the sphere by connecting to the API pausing all new changes to the sphere. See Game Master.
Player Engagement
Regular cycles can promote consistent player engagement by offering new opportunities, challenges, or rewards each cycle. This keeps players invested in the game, as they anticipate what each new cycle will bring.
Cycle Times
The faster the rate of the sphere the more it costs to run, a sphere that cycles hourly may cost as much as 24 times the price of a daily sphere to run.
We plan to offer these cycles to start.
- Interval in hours
- Interval in days
A sphere creator would select the start time, or schedule it. The sphere will cycle at that time continuously unless changed or becomes dormant.
Future offerings
We expect some spheres to desire very unique cycles, non interval based. Offering solutions like nautical dawn that changes daily based on the location would be a upgraded feature offered by the Ludum Vitae Core team.
The Sphere
When the sphere cycles at a specific time every day, a snapshot of the sphere and all sub-items like GEM’s, wallets, values made at its current progress point. This data is processed by Ludum Vitae’s algorithms and the transaction of tokens and all updates are made based on the progress analysis.
Cycle Settings
Each sphere as a cycle time. At the time of the cycle the calculation is done for the entire sphere and all objects within. Changes are saved to a log file, and a the database.
Delay a Cycle
Paying tokens to delay a cycle is a possible game action, this is not a version 1 feature.
