Core Features
Spheres
Spheres represent the community or organization using Ludum Vitae. This can be a community of 1 or a community of a million. Spheres contain all the data upon which the Ludum Vitae Game operates. Spheres have a backend API that run all the logic, and a frontend interface that can be customized depending on the needs of the organization.
The Basics
The sphere is an abstract container for the community elements. Spheres contain:
- Values Initially defined by the Founder(s)
- Members (Members)
- Tokens (Unit of account)
Once created the Members proceed to create:
- Gems (Ideas, Tasks, and Goals)
- Bonds (Gem-owner-agreed connections between Gems)
Sphere Cycle
Inside the sphere, the game is progressed through measures of time called "cycles". A sphere cycle is a set interval, such as a minute, day, week, or month. The default cycle interval is expected to be 24 hours and all member actions and their results are calculated when the cycle closes for actions during the time period between cycles when game/sphere actions by members are restricted.
Setup
To setup a sphere you must go through the "create sphere" process.
Once the sphere is created the user(s) creating the sphere may be offered to protect the sphere with a 2FA or private key mechanism. All "founding members" of the sphere must submit to the exact same levels of security at the time of creation in order to be called "Sphere Founders".
A unit of value must be contributed and the sphere funded. This can be handled with a credit card, crypto payment, or pre-sale voucher.
Values
Once the payment for the sphere has processed, a token supply is given to stake on at least 3 values.
Membership Type
LV offers 4 Membership Types:
- Free Membership (All members may join for free - Founders may or may not incur costs depending on configuration)
- Voucher (A game token fee must be paid to the sphere for each new member invitation)
- Rewards (All new members receive game tokens from the sphere upon joining)
- Fee Membership (All a game token fee is withdrawn from each member each cycle)
These token fee amounts can be customized.
Privacy Levels
This is configured as the sphere default, all gems and bonds would inherit the default unless otherwise selected.
- Default Open - all member, gem, bond, and sphere information is available by default - any information may be restricted with fee and request
- Private by Request - all information is public (within the sphere) by default, and any information may only be privatized upon request.
- Private by Offer - all information is public (within the sphere) by default, and any information may only be privatized upon offer.
- Request only - all information is private by default, and any information may only be shared upon request.
- Offer only - all information is private by default, and any information may only be shared upon offer.
- Default Closed - all member, gem, bond, and sphere information is private by default - any information may be opened with tribute and offer
Sphere Roles
Sphere Founders, just like gems, are also by default sphere creators, owners, and sphere validators. Member members acquire one or more roles as they act within the sphere. Most Roles are established after the first sphere cycle.
See Roles for a table of roles including Gems, and Bonds.
Designated Roles
These roles can be offered or requested.
Emergent roles
Emergent roles are based on the activity of the Member within the sphere.
- Validator - Is validator on 1 or more Gems.
- Contributor - Customizable tag - Is accomplishing tasks.
- Staker - Customizable tag - Has provided some additional skin in the game.
- Participant - Is participating (possibly as a non-member/non-member) in gem/sphere activity
- Observer - Default - Observers do not participate in the rewards of the sphere.
- Detractor
- Troll
Sphere Configuration Changes
The sphere setup process, and available documentation at ludumvitae.org should help sphere creators make the right decisions, but we understand that circumstances and goals may change over time, and so we have designed a method to change sphere settings.
Settings within the sphere are expected to be "sticky" and "costly". The stickiness and costliness is weighted heavily by one initial configuration:
- The creator must approve all changes (most costly sphere gem proposal)
- Unanimous owner vote approves all changes (2nd most costly sphere gem proposal)
- Unanimous member vote (average cost sphere gem proposal)
- Majority member vote (lowest cost sphere gem proposal)
Fees
Ludum Vitae core current target subscription fee is $20 per month per user to run an average sphere that cycles every 24 hours.
The Axiomatic Principle of the Sphere
The sphere is a shared object of consciousness with the goal of manifesting/realizing its elements (gems) in the real-world 3d physical realm. It serves as a boundary in the mind. It exists as a mental construct, and when life manifests from elements within the sphere, the community wins. It is essentially an infinite game engine that represents the community's aspirations and goals.
