Core Features

Gems

Gems represent the goals of the community, the endeavors that are strived for. They are related to real-world actions and tasks.

The Basics

A gem by definition should describe a 3d real world physical outcome and should have one Verb and one Noun in the description. This can be a Job/Project/Task/Goal.

Gems in Ludum Vitae are virtual containers that can be created and managed by Members. Each Gem has a unique set of properties, such as its name, value, and potential for growth or diminution in the next cycle determined by the sphere it is in. The value of a gem is determined by various factors, including attention, allocated tokens, member’s influence, and bonds to other gems.

The Origin of "Gem"

In the 2011 book "Principles" By Ray Dalio he describes a reward for a puzzle is a gem.

Ray Dalio is an American billionaire investor and hedge fund manager, who founded and co-leads Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund.

"Remember that identifying problems is like finding gems embedded in puzzles; if you solve the puzzles you will get the gems that will make your life much better."

Wallets

Each Gem has its own wallet that is funded on it's creation. The Gem creation fee is withdrawn from a selected wallet that the Member has permission to spend from.

Bonds

Gems have connections to other Gems through Bonds. These are setup after a Gem is created.

Attention

Gems must receive attention to Grow, otherwise they will eventually become invisible and worthless through the process of Diminution.

Token Grants & Bonds

Gems may receive Token Grants when the sphere cycles, if they have received attention. A token grant is much more likely for a Gems that has active bonds to other Gems.

The algorithm used in Ludum Vitae calculates the projected diminution of each gem based on these factors. Users can view this information through a feedback matrix that displays the potential increase or decrease in value for each gem in the next cycle based on the current activity. This allows users to make informed decisions about their actions and investments in gems, as well as experiment with different methods to increase their value.

Stabilization

The Ludum Vitae algorithm also includes a mechanism to stabilize gems when they are bonded to at least two other dependent or preceding gems. This helps to mitigate the negative effects of diminution and maintain or increase the value of these gems. By creating interconnected and dependent gems, users can foster collaboration and a sense of community within Ludum Vitae.

Gem Roles

Gems also have assigned and emergent roles like spheres.

View the Roles page for more information.

By default the Gem creator gets the Owner and Validator Roles assigned unless otherwise specified.

Assigned Role

  • Creator

The is the Member who created the Gem and this cannot be changed later.

Selected Roles

  • Owner - is the Member who currently owns the Gem.
  • Validators - check the work aligns with the success criteria of the Gem.
  • Steward - are given control to moderate most actions of the Gem.

Emergent Roles

  • Contributors - Are providing significant support to the Gem. They essentially are an upgraded participant.
  • Participants - Are actively being rewarded for the success of the Gem
  • Observers - Are not rewarded for activity of the Gem.
  • Detractors - provide check and balance, they offer differing opinions and can bet against the success of the Gem. Detractors are rewarded when the Gem is not meeting its success criteria or goals outlined.
  • Troll - are Participants or Detractors who have been labeled as Such, they may not be shown this status.

Tags

A Gem has Tags, these tags could be automatically generated for sorting with AI, or from sphere Members.

Creating a Gem

The Gem starts off needing a title, it must contain a noun and a verb. The title must describe a real world 3D physical outcome.

Ranking your Gem's Values

The Member creating the gem, The Creator is shown the Sphere values to rank against his new Gem, to give it a starting Value.

  • add this to Flow document

Value Creation

If the current values of the Gem are not enough for you, then you can choose to apply a unlisted value and a Draft of the gem is saved. A new Gem started to assist in the process of creating and approving a new Value.

Success Criteria

A Gem may have multiple success criteria, AI may be used to estimate a Rank Score in relation to the Sphere it is contained within. This is a compatibility ranking. Suggestions may be offered for Symantec Structure or appropriate wording.

A Gem must have unique success criteria, Ludum Vitae views duplication of effort as one of the most important things to avoid. Attempting to create Gem too similar to another Gem may incur significant fees.

Offering Ownership

Gems don't get "accepted" unless the owner/steward is "offering ownership/stewardship". This is a checkbox for members that are creating a Gem.

Completing a GEM

Completion of a GEM is triggered when all the Success Criteria is verified as done. Upon the next cycle the payouts are processed and the remaining tokens in the Gem wallet are distributed.

These payouts are made to various roles, but not limited to:

  • Gem & Bond Owners
  • Creators
  • Stewards
  • Validators

After the final value ranking is calculated, the remaining tokens are paid to Stakers of Sphere Values.

We expect payout weights around Gems to be one of the most discussed features of Ludum Vitae.

Gems owned by the Sphere

In some cases a sphere may be a owner of a Gem.

  1. A Gem setup to vouch for a new member joining.
  2. [List More]

GEM Visibility

By default all Gems are public to everyone within the sphere.

Gems can be not public externally as well.

Some situations may require Gems only be visible to certain roles within the sphere.
