Members

The Basics

Members are Ludum Vitaes representation of living souls & consciousness. They are the participants in Ludum Vitae, Members must exist within a Sphere.

An member is not created outside a sphere, it is created within a sphere. If you are creating a sphere without a Member already then the founder of the sphere creates a new Member upon execution of the sphere. An Member therefore has a origin sphere.

You should know!

A founder that has created a new Sphere and new Member will inherit the values they selected to start the Sphere with. Values change as the game progresses.

Member Wallet

An Member must start with a token balance and therefore has a wallet, this allows for buy in and skin in the game. Depending on configuration a Member or a Sphere may provide the tokens for the buy-in, vouching for the new living souls "Member".

The living soul ranks each of the sphere values in relation to their own viewpoints using some of their tokens. This eventually helps determine their meritocratic score based on the actions taken within the sphere.

Negative Balance

The member wallet cannot go negative for any reason, it must be 0 or higher.

Rewards

To earn rewards, active participation or the investment of value is essential. Actions such as completing tasks, engaging in the community, forming connections between Gems, and contributing to the achievement of success criteria are all incentivized.

Diminution

Members are warned if they are a candidate of Diminution next cycle, selection is more likely if your wallet falls into these groups:

  • top 20% of the largest wallets (hoarding)
  • 20% of the least active players (for disengagement)
  • bottom 20% of meritocratic ranks (for being misaligned)

Additional categories may be added as the game develops.

This behavior is likely to be different when there are only 1-5 players.

Warning

Diminution is NOT mutually exclusive meaning you can be double and triple hit for bad behavior on top of disengagement.

See Diminution for more details.

Exporting a Member

An member is associated with a cryptographic public & private key pair. Your ownership of the Member is provable with your private key. This key allow's you to sign into other spheres. Different spheres could have their own authentication methods or requirements.

Sharing Membership

A trusted sphere could share the public key’s of the Member's involved, allowing them to utilize their merit within multiple spheres. This allows spheres to have membership requirements, a remote sphere could share a Member in good standing status and other details. This allows for some spheres to provide verification and other services to any connected sphere.

Building Global Trustless Merit

Ludum Vitae by design does not provide any global account, this is a service that could be offered by any sphere. As a trustless system, Merit is established by having connections with spheres and skin in the game by utilizing tokens backed by value. This helps ensure your actions align with the goals of the community.

Members & Bots

Bots are connected to your Member and act upon the sphere with manual or automatic approval. Bots have their own wallet that they can spend tokens from. These bots could be a custom program or a full LLM AI. We assume that communities will want transparent bot usage. Members that don't follow the sphere rules can be punished or removed through various mechanisms if found out.

Remember!

A sphere has a defined set of game rules, designed to complete tasks and goals for it's community. As long as AI or Bots are improving the value of the community it is not adversarial. Any adversarial Bot or Member is drained of tokens or kicked from participating based on the sphere rules and participant actions.

Origin Sphere

Because Members must create their "account" in a sphere, every Member has a Origin. This established by logs or records if public.

Banning a Member

To get banned you must receive the Troll status (Role) before a ban could be proposed. The mechanisms for this are as follows:

  1. Sphere founders publicly label you as a troll (see Peer Review)
  2. More than 50% of your owned gems are negatively ranked by crowd sourced votes
  3. You have been labeled as a troll on more than 50% of gems in which you participate.

Once you're a publicly declared troll any member in good standing may propose your ban as a gem. This gem would receive ranked voted against values. Once the votes are collected and the validator validates then the ban is executed. Any tokens in that user's wallet at that time are theirs to take and would be automatically refunded at the next cycle with the underlying asset.
